Welcome This website was created to share my appreciation of the beauty and diversity of our wildflower natural heritage. I am a photographer, not a botanist or website guru so there are no bells and whistles here, just a simple website full of beautiful wildflowers. If you feel like contacting me to exchange information I will get back to you at the first opportunity. I am an ethical photographer so if you are willing to share some special places or rare wildflower locations I will appreciate learning about new places and plants of special interest. All the photos through 2012 were created using a Fuji S2 digital SLR camera. For the 2013 season I retired the large and heavy Fuji S2 in favor of a much lighter and smaller Sony NEX-7 with 30mm macro lens. A year with the Sony's macro lens of f22 as the best depth of field wasn't satifactory so went back to heavy, this time a Nikon 300 with the same macro lens previously used on the Fuji. So much happier back to maximum of f54. Most of the time I use a slaved flash to assure sharpness, stop motion from all but the strongest winds and allows for a long depth of field. The handheld slaved flash also allows me to select the light direction that best shows the flower. I hope you enjoy the photos. 2017 new states on the list are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee Argentina 2013 (Tierra del Fuego, southern Patagonia mountains & steppe) Chile 2013 (Tierra del Fuego, southern Patagonia mountains & steppe, the very far north, northern Atacama Desert) Namibia 2023 (mid-May to mid-June, approaching winter, multi-year drought) All photos ©Bruce Selyem - 155 Prospector Trail - Bozeman, Montana 59718
